CRC Support Groups
CRC offers two drop-in support groups for the CRC community: a Women’s family group and, with our partner DBSA-Boston, a Working & Coping group. Led by trained facilitators who are family members or peers themselves, these are safe spaces in which people can share experiences, brainstorm about resources, and find social connection. Participants find hope and gain resilience from talking with others and from helping others. All support group meetings are currently held online using Zoom.
WOMEN’S FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP (2 meetings each week)
The Women’s family group welcomes mothers, sisters, and friends who are caretakers for an individual who lives with a mental health condition. Thanks to CRC’s resource referral services, our facilitators are often able to follow up between meetings on questions that arise in the group. Offered at two different times weekly: Tuesday mornings from 11 am-12:30 pm and Saturday mornings from 10 am-11:30 am. To join the conversation, contact Maggie Tyler at maggiet@coleresourcecenter.org.
WORKING & COPING (with DBSA-Boston)
CRC is delighted to partner with our good friends at DBSA-Boston to sponsor the Working & Coping support group which provides an opportunity for those living with mental health conditions to share feelings and experiences about job hunting and working (in volunteer, per diem, or part- and full-time positions). Topics include but are not limited to work-life balance, disclosure issues, handling setbacks, and sustaining confidence and self-worth in job hunting and in the workplace.
Working & Coping meets monthly on third Mondays at 7 pm via Zoom. The group is facilitated by CRC’s own Neil Wilson, job coach for our Workforce Development Program. For the Zoom link, go to DBSA-Boston’s support group schedule here.
DBSA-Boston is a non-profit self-help support organization, run by volunteers, and offering many activities nurturing connections for those impacted by mood disorders. DBSA-Boston activities include more than a dozen support groups on different topics, a morning Mindfulness Meditation Circle, a monthly Music & Open Mic event on Friday evenings, and a monthly Speaker's Series.
